Foundational Leadership

The world has changed rapidly—from complicated to complex. To operate at the tactical and operational level in this new complex and unpredictable environment, organizations need to be able to address challenges at a much faster pace, while doing so with greater accuracy and effectiveness at the point of need. To do so will require a foundational change in leadership roles and responsibilities.

Development Program Elements

The Cowboy Solution Foundational Leadership training program works with leadership at all levels to help create and lead empowered teams around a foundation of unlocking and unleashing human performance.

DEFINING TEAM PURPOSE | The essential element to an adaptable team is purpose, and it is the critical component of an empowered work force. It provides the “why” and the “what” of everything that is done and becomes the guiding force for all teams. In this session, participants will work to define or refine the purpose of each team as well as the leadership team.

LEADERSHIP TEAM ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES | To work as a leadership team, there must be a mutual understanding of the specific roles and responsibilities of each member, as well as an understanding of their roles and responsibilities to the teams they serve. In this session, participants will define their specific roles and responsibilities to the leadership team and to the teams they lead. BUILDING,

ASSESSING, AND TRAINING TEAMS | In any business, highperformance teams are the most important production asset of the company and building the right team is the foundation for success. However, while teams are the key element in the new model, building interdependent teams is crucial to high-performance capabilities. Teams must work together outside of operational silos in an interdependency that promotes collaboration instead of competition.

In this session, participants will work together to build teams capable of making decisions based on the defined purpose.

THIS WILL INCLUDE:
• Defining the purpose of the team
• Assembling all necessary players
• Current team assessment
• Building the ideal team player.
• New team member onboarding

LEADING INTERDEPENDENT TEAMS
| To be effective, high performance teams are empowered to make decisions at the point of and at the time of need and adapt to meet any challenge. To do so, will require leadership to create and maintain an environment that supports the teams.

In this session, participants will create an environment and process that includes:

• Shared information
• Constant communication
• Empowerment
• Well-designed physical environment
• Continuous improvement
• Continuous support

ACTIONS AND COMMITMENT TO ACTION | Training is only successful when it is implemented in such a way as to create a culture – a set of shared beliefs and actions. During this session, participants will design an implementation process complete with specific actions and timelines with emphasis on accountability actions. The training will culminate in a document to be used as a manual for implementation as well as follow-ups.
